PINEHURST, N.C. — Course Selection Committee Confirms 2026 Slate "Weeks Away"
The Random Cup Course Selection Committee confirmed this week that it has entered the formal review phase of its 2026 host selection process, describing the current workload as "extensive" and "not to be rushed."
According to a statement issued by the Press Office, the Committee is presently conducting due diligence on a record number of applications submitted by area courses vying for the honor of hosting golf's most exclusive championship. Each applicant, the statement noted, is being evaluated against the Cup's rigorous and largely undisclosed criteria.
"The field of candidates is strong, and the Committee will not be pressured into a premature decision," the statement read. "The selected 2026 course will be announced in due course, and not one moment before."
Sources familiar with the deliberations described the review as "thorough" and the accompanying hospitality from applicant courses as "greatly appreciated." The Committee reminded prospective hosts that its members remain, as always, impartial — and reachable.
A final selection is expected once the appropriate assurances have been received.
