Jeremy McDonald

Trying to quite the voices in his head….and on his phone…

What the sharps are saying…

(+650) Co-founder. Three-time Champion. Counselor-at-law. Jeremy continues to prove that the Random Cup isn't won with range balls alone.

This year, the range balls were even scarcer — by necessity. J-Mac has spent the offseason crisscrossing the country as the Cup's tireless ambassador, promoting the Championship coast to coast and working the kind of behind-the-scenes deals that will shape the tournament's growth for years to come. Golf, for once, took a back seat to the business of the game. He has logged just enough competitive rounds this season to keep his Random Cup card current — the bare minimum, and not one swing more.

Which leaves the field with an unsettling question: what version of Jeremy shows up at Pinehurst? Nobody knows — possibly including Jeremy. He could arrive rusty and overextended, or he could do what he's always done: lean on experience, patience, and a mental game as sharp as his legal briefs, and quietly materialize in the final group before anyone noticed him climbing. With most players you study the form. With J-Mac, there is no form to study. That's exactly what makes him dangerous.

If he can avoid another late-night debate over tournament formats, don't be surprised if he works his way right back to where he's so often been... exactly where nobody expected.

The Admissions Committee has declined to release meeting minutes from that year.

SUNDAY THREAT ASSESSMENT
Least wants to see one shot ahead: Stovie
Two three-jacket champions, level on hardware. The Rankings Department notes the concern is likely mutual.

The Rules Committee wishes to emphasize that generosity is not an officially recognized form of relief.

STATED LEGACY OBJECTIVE
