Competitor Carlos Beuso Reportedly "Fishing" in the Days Before Championship; Press Office Unable to Confirm What Kind

PINEHURST, N.C. — With the 2026 Championship approaching, the Random Cup Press Office has received multiple unconfirmed reports that competitor Carlos Beuso has spent recent days "fishing," though officials cautioned that the term remains, at this hour, entirely unverified.

"We can confirm he's near water. We can confirm there's a rod involved," a spokesperson said. "Beyond that, we are not prepared to characterize the activity." Pressed on whether the outings constitute legitimate championship preparation, the spokesperson noted only that Beuso has described the trips as "focus work" and declined to elaborate.

Rival camps expressed skepticism that any actual fish have been caught, or sought. One source, speaking on condition of anonymity, suggested the boat may function primarily as "a place to sit." The Press Office was unable to independently confirm the existence of a single fish.

Beuso, for his part, remains unbothered. Reached for comment, he reportedly gestured toward the cooler and said nothing further. The Press Office will continue to monitor the situation, and the cooler.
